The DMCC Act and ADR: What Clinics Must Tell Patients
Updated 18 October 2026
From 6 April 2026, alternative dispute resolution for consumer disputes moved to a new system under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.
What changed
- ADR providers must now be accredited. CTSI accredits schemes outside the regulated sectors.
- Schemes not yet accredited can carry on with disputes that started before 7 January 2027, extended from 5 October 2026.
- When you tell a patient the outcome of a complaint, you must tell them, in writing, about any ADR scheme available.
What to do now
Check your complaints letters name your independent scheme, and check that scheme's accreditation status. HSCAMP's CTSI accreditation is in progress.
